Portrait of a woman

Northern Italian School, (16th century)

There is still no clue as to the possible identity of the sitter although her high social status is clear, given her finger rings and knotted gold chain.   The picture can be dated on grounds of distinctive costume which would suggest the 1560s. Various attributions have been put forward none of them convincing.
