The Last Supper is mentioned in all four Gospels, but the unusual treatment here is that the Passover food has been replaced by a single piece of bread and beaker of wine. The composition itself is loosely based on the well known Last Supper by Pieter Pourbus (q.v.) of 1562 in Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk, Bruges.
