The expulsion of Adam and Eve from Paradise

Broeck, Crispin van den (1523-1591)

This composition is unusual for van den Broeck in the sense that the figures are on a large scale. However, there are numerous engravings of lost works by the artist which show that he employed this type of composition on many occasions. In its dramatic approach, Van den Broeck shows a great deal of originality, although the handling of the painting owes some debt to Frans Floris.
