A view on the Thames looking towards Battersea

Varley, John (1778-1842)

This view of the Thames may well have been taken from a similar viewpoint looking up and down the river. Quite early in their history, in 1875, they were attributed to none other than John Sell Cotman (1782 – 1842) and made the large sum of 90 guineas when sold at the time.
